The PBGV is not a rough-coated
Basset Hounds as some may think, and
it must be remembered that
basset is
simply the French word for low . . .
meaning their general body shape.
They are a spirited breed; busy,
active and very social with other
animals. They are happy; a
friendly, outgoing, social and alert
companion. They like human and
canine companionship. In saying
that however, they are stubborn and
independent. The look and
personality of the breed makes one
smile. To live with a PBGV is like
living with a cartoon character!
Being a scent hound the need for an
enclosed area is a necessity, as
their first instinct is to put their
nose to the ground and follow the
scent of whatever may be out there.
They do make wonderful house pets,
love to go for long walks and are
very adaptable to modern life.
